The Textile Conservancy offers a lining service, either to replace a
soiled or degraded lining fabric or to apply a protective backing to an
unlined textile.
Large textiles, such as tapestries, require a suitable lining to protect the reverse on open display. It is acknowledged within the profession that textiles with a lining are better protected from air borne pollutants, including dust and dirt, as well as risk of insect infestation.
